7 Denim Fashion Trends for 2022

Denim is a classic textile that’s used in many different garments. Most people, of course, associate denim with jeans. Jeans have been around for over a century, and during that time, they’ve become known as one of the world’s most popular types of trousers. With 2022 right around the corner, though, there are certain denim fashion trends that you should consider embracing. Below are the top seven denim fashion trends for 2022.

#1) Pull-On Jeans

You can expect to see more men and women wearing pull-on jeans in 2022. They are soft, comfortable and easy to wear. Pull-on jeans aren’t the same as traditional jeans. While traditional jeans have buttons and/or a zipper, pull-on jeans have a drawstring. There are no buttons or zippers on pull-on jeans. Instead, they feature a drawstring around the waistline.

Pull-on jeans offer a superior level of comfort. They don’t have a rigid waistline. Rather, they have an elastic waistline that’s characterized by the use of a drawstring. With their elastic waistline, you can wear a pair of pull-on jeans by “pulling” them onto your body.

#2) Raw Denim Jeans

Raw denim jeans have become increasingly popular — a trend that will likely remain in 2022 and the years to come. All jeans are made of denim. Denim, however, can be classified as either washed or raw. Washed denim is exactly what it sounds like: denim that’s washed during the production process. Raw denim, on the other hand, isn’t washed. It’s spun from cotton, after which it’s immediately used in the construction of new jeans.

Raw denim jeans tend to feature a darker color than their washed counterparts. When denim is washed, it becomes a lighter color. Exposure to water will remove some of the excess dye in the denim, resulting in a lighter tone. Some people prefer the light tone of washed denim, but others prefer the dark tone of raw and unwashed denim. If you fall under the latter group, you may want to embrace raw denim jeans in your 2022 outfits.

You can still wear washed denim jeans. Washed denim jeans, in fact, are better protected against fading. For a darker tone, though, there’s no better choice than raw denim jeans.

#3) Honeycomb Patterns

Another denim fashion trend for 2022 is jeans with honeycomb patterns. What are honeycomb patterns exactly? Honeycomb is a style of intentional fading that’s added to certain types of jeans during production. When jeans are produced, they are oftentimes sandblasted or otherwise degraded in certain areas to achieve a unique, aged appearance. This distressing process results in areas of fading, which can manifest in different shapes.

There are different shapes of fading used in jeans. Whiskers, for instance, consists of several horizontal lines that mimic the appearance of a cat’s whiskers. Honeycombs, on the other hand, look like the geometric blocks of honeycombs. Honeycomb patterns such as this are becoming more popular, and you can expect to see more jeans featuring them in 2022.

#4) Denim Blazers

Jeans aren’t the only garments made of denim. While most people associate jeans with denim, you can find other garments made of this versatile textile, including blazers. Denim blazers, in fact, is a fashion trend that will likely gain momentum in 2022.

Denim blazers are jackets that, as the name suggests, are made of denim. They are made of the same denim fabric as jeans. Denim blazers are semi-dressy. They aren’t necessarily formal, but they feature a semi-dressy style that allows them to be integrated into a variety of outfits. Regardless of your outfit, you can probably wear a denim blazer with it. The versatile properties of denim blazers make them a popular choice of outerwear among men and women alike.

#5) High-Rise Jeans

We can’t talk about denim fashion trends for 2022 without mentioning high-rise jeans. Also known as high-waisted jeans, high-rise jeans are exactly what they sound like: jeans that sit or rise high above your waist when worn. You can find them in different colors, patterns and sizes. Nonetheless, all high-rise jeans sit high above your waist when worn.

Most high-rise jeans will sit about 2 to 3 inches above your waist when worn. High-rise jeans were popular during the 1970s and 80s, after which they were gradually phased out in favor of standard-rise jeans. In recent years, though, high-rise jeans have been making a comeback. They are particularly popular among women. Many women prefer the unique style of high-rise jeans over standard-rise jeans. If you’re looking to make a fashion statement in 2022, you may want to include high-rise jeans in your outfits.

#6) Stretch Jeans

While all jeans are of denim, some of them are made of a special type of denim with elastic properties. Stretch denim consists of regular denim with an elastic fabric, such as lyrcra. Jeans made of stretch denim are known as stretch jeans.

From an outsider’s perspective, stretch jeans look like ordinary jeans. They have the same color, texture and overall appearance. The difference, of course, lies in their physical properties. Stretch jeans are more elastic than ordinary jeans because they contain an elastic fabric. They are still made mostly of regular denim, but they contain a small amount of an elastic fabric. With this elastic fabric, stretch jeans are elastic. You can pull and stretch them without damaging them.

#7) Denim Skirts

The use of denim skirts is another fashion trend for 2022. Millions of women wear skirts on a regular basis. Skirts are stylish and cool lower-body garments that are perfect for the warmer months of the year. While some skirts are made of plain cotton, others are made of denim. Denim skirts are becoming more popular, and you can expect to see more of them in 2022.

Denim skirts are made of the same denim fabric as jeans. Denim has several properties that make it ideal for both jeans and skirts. It’s soft and gentle on the skin, yet denim is also strong and durable. Denim skirts retain these properties. As a result, many women prefer denim skirts over traditional cotton or wool skirts.
